March 15, 1946 – June 9, 2026
It is with profound sadness that the family of Arthur William (Bill) Reed announces his passing at home surrounded by love, on June 9, 2026 after a short illness
Bill was a loving husband of 54 years and will be missed immeasurably by his wife Sandra (nee Maynard) son, William (Shelly) and daughter Vanessa (Paul) cherished grandchildren Ella and Owen and canine buddy Hankie
Dad was a quiet man at heart. He was never one to like attention, preferring to watch others enjoy life’s social adventures. He loved to work with wood, and was lucky enough to earn a living as a Carpenter doing just that. His true passion however, had always been fishing and he was able to enjoy that right up to his last days. His best memories seemed to always involve a boat, fishing rod, and grand plans for the next fishing trip
We take comfort in knowing that he will be reunited with those that are waiting for him, Mother, Helen, Father, Arthur Ernest, dear sisters Calvie and Alfreda, innumerable pets such as Boobear, Hanna, the dogs, and numerous Siamese cats all named Putter!
Along with his family, Dad had so many others that enriched his life; longtime fishing buddies Jackie and Clark, Dougie, and trusted IT specialist Brian from just up the hill, Teresa always dropping off food and calling just to check in. As well as many other friends and family in the community that were just a phone call away.
Dad’s care is now entrusted to Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, New Brunswick. (506-634-7424) Visitation will be held Monday, June 15, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and again from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Brenan‘s Funeral Chapel, on Tuesday, June 16, 2026, starting at at 1:00 PM. For those who wish to participate the burial will be at Browns Cemetery in Bains corner following the service. An informal reception will be held lastly at the Bains Corner United Church Hall following the graveside service.
The family is comforted and so appreciative of everyone’s visits, calls, and thoughts for us during this time. If anyone wishes, donations can be made to Diabetes Canada or the Saint John SPCA.
“God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day, and when it comes to my last cast I then most humbly pray, when in the Lord safe landing net I’m peacefully asleep, that in his mercy I be judged as good enough to keep.”
