UPDATE: Man Arrested After Threat Forces Closure Of Schools In Baileyville, Maine

One person has been arrested after a “credible threat” forced the closure of two schools in Maine on Friday.

Baileyville police Chief Bob Fitzsimmons says in a statement he learned of a threat to a female high school student from a recent Woodland High School graduate around 8 a.m. Friday.

He says the threat outlined a specific act at a specific time, and the call was then made to close Woodland High School and Woodland Elementary School.

Buses were called in to take students back home, and parents of those who were dropped off were made aware of the situation.

A state-wide alert for the individual was also sent out to all law enforcement in Maine.

Fitzsimmons says the suspect was spotted twice in the Bangor area — once getting into his vehicle on the University of Maine campus in Orono, and again driving east on Route 9 in Clifton.

He was taken into custody further down Route 9 about four hours after the incident began.
