More money was announced today for a local nursing home.
Wauklehegan Manor in McAdam will receive $1.6 million over the next five years from the provincial government.
Premier Brian Gallant says the funding will be used for renovations, “It is important for New Brunswick seniors to enjoy the best possible quality of life in modern care facilities. By creating our multi-year aging strategy and five-year nursing home plan, we will continue to make investments such as this one, which will improve senior care, while also helping spur economic growth as we extend the life of our current nursing home infrastructure.”
The provincial government’s nursing home plan includes $108 million for renovations to nursing homes around the province.
Last month, the Premier announced Lincourt Manor in St. Stephen will receive $3.5 million under the same program, also for renovations.
Other initiatives in the nursing home plan include $12 million to increase wages for special care workers and home support workers, $11.3 million in a program to support informal caregivers, $2.1 million for specialized beds for people with dementia, and $800,000 to implement the New Brunswick Aging Strategy.
