Some major improvements to the roads in Saint Andrews are on the way.
The provincial government announcing $1.6 million from the 2018-19 capital budget will go to paving a 7.9 km stretch of Route 127, from Clark Road to the Glebe Road area.
Also included in the funding: drainage improvements, culvert installation, and widening of the shoulder on Bayview Drive, from Cedar Lane to Marine Science Drive.
Mowat Drive will also have curbs and gutters installed, from the Bar Road to Thomas Avenue.
Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure, Bill Fraser made the announcement this morning, “Your government is committed to creating jobs and growing the economy. Investing in transportation infrastructure helps fuel the economy through the safe and efficient flow of people and goods in all regions of New Brunswick.”
Municipalities can apply for funding assistance for capital upgrade projects through the Municipal Designated Highway Program. Funding for the program has increased to $25 million since 2015, which is more than double.
