Saint John Mayor Don Darling remembers talking about the need for funding to complete upgrades at the Saint John Airport early in his mandate.
The dream became reality with over 20 million dollars in funding announced this week between the Federal and provincial governments and the airport itself.
CHSJ News asked the Mayor if he will mention this when encouraging people and companies to move here.
“Oh yeah, for sure. I mean there are a number of other projects that the airport’s been working on but, certainly having a modern airport, an airport with the latest standards that are in a position to attract new flight options I’m hoping that is part of all of this” Darling says.
Mayor Don Darling tells us we need to encourage Saint Johners to fly out of Saint John and not to choose Fredericton, Halifax or Bangor.
It’s not everyday @cityofsaintjohn councillors get to meet the first Canadian in Space. Thank you Minister @MarcGarneau for pausing from this exciting day @YourSJAirport for a pic. With @GarySullivanSJ @JMackenzieSJ, Blake Armstrong and Gerry Lowe. #sjcouncil pic.twitter.com/bkpb9wiZda
