The Humboldt Broncos tragedy has caused shockwaves from coast to coast with many communities coming together to raise funds for those affected.
Saint John is among them with a fundraising event hosted by Lancaster Minor Hockey and Saint John Youth Minor Hockey planned for this weekend.
The peewee AA exhibition game is happening Saturday at 2 pm at the River Valley Community Centre in support of the Humboldt Strong Community Foundation.
“We’ve all come together and that, to us, is what the sport is about. We’ve come together for a common cause,” Lancaster Minor Hockey president Greg Flynn tells CHSJ News.
“It hit so close to home for so many of us.”
There will be a silent auction, 50/50 and donations accepted at the door.
