Saint John Mayor Applauds Efforts Of All Helping Out During The Flood

Saint John Mayor Don Darling gave a big thank you on Sunday to all the first responders, EMO and the corporate donors that he says have really stepped up for Saint John like he has never seen before during this flooding event.

The Mayor, like many others, found himself on sandbagging duties on Sunday.

“What I’ve been witnessing over the weekend is likely thousands of volunteers like many behind us and over my shoulder who have come out, strangers helping strangers is how I have been describing it the last couple of days,” says Darling.

But he warns more volunteers will be needed in the weeks ahead.

“What I have been saying to volunteers over the last couple of days while thanking them is that there will be a lot of opportunity for volunteers, first we have to have the water stop rising, then recede and then there will be a large cleanup opportunity here,” stated Darling.
