A Greater Saint John grassroots organization that donates money to charities has reached a major financial milestone.
The 100 Women Who Care of Greater Saint John has officially surpassed the half-a-million dollar mark with its latest event where the West Side Food Bank received a cheque for $23,000.
Founder of the group Debbie Rathwell tells CHSJ News passing $500,000 only motivates her more.
“Over the last five years [we’ve] contributed $100,000 a year. It just makes me want to do it more. I want to get to a million in less than five years,” says Rathwell.
“And that means growing our membership, I mean, my goodness, we’ve been just so blessed with committed women, we’ve never been less than 225. The organization is called 100 Women Who Care, so I’d say we’re unstoppable.”
They are always looking for new members and you can sign up on 100womengsj.com.
