American Company Likes New Brunswick Approach To Nuclear Power

The American company, Advanced Reactors Concepts announced on Monday it was investing $5 million in the New Brunswick nuclear research cluster.

CEO Don Wolf says the company likes the idea of doing business with New Brunswick for a number of reasons.

“You have an ideal situation here with respect to the trained workforce, the enthusiasm about nuclear power you have the all the ingredients for having this be a world export hub there’s no reason why it shouldn’t be built here,” says Wolf.

The company is designing a new 100 megawatt small modular nuclear reactor called the ARC-100 and if NB Power is interested in one for the site at Point Lepreau they could have it ready by the end of this decade.
