Cavendish Farms Closes Fresh Packaging Facility In PEI

A shortage of raw potatoes on PEI has forced the closure of a fresh packaging facility in O’Leary, PEI.

Cavendish Farms announced the closure yesterday. It affects 40 employees.

The company will focus on its frozen potato processing plants instead.

According to General Manager Ron Clow, there was a shortage of 150 million pounds of potatoes last year in PEI.
