In light of concern over public safety, the city has secured the Mitchell Apartments, next to Rocmaura Nursing Home, to prevent vandals from getting inside.
Mayor Don Darling says the city is working hard to get a resolution.
He says the buildings were owned by forty individual owners and the condo corporation has gone bankrupt which makes things a bit complicated.
He adds the City of Saint John is working with the condo corporation’s lawyers and they will keep doing that.
Darling is hoping the buildings inside are in good enough shape to attract investment money and be redeveloped.
