True Sportsmanship On Display At Special Olympics New Brunswick Summer Games

When they train and compete, Special Olympics athletes work just as hard as any other athletes would.

However, the Organizing Chair for the Summer Games Lorraine LeClair says they also have something many athletes don’t.

“They care for each other tremendously, they support each other whether they win or lose, to me it’s an outstanding athletic display of sportsmanship,” says LeClair.

LeClair says when it comes to showcasing sportsmanship “I find that their spirit and the way that they conduct themselves as an athlete is something that we could all learn something from.”

She adds “it’s not about anything to do with their disability, it’s all to do with their ability, and I think that’s one of the things that’s important to recognize.”

The Special Olympics New Brunswick summer games are ongoing and will wrap up in Moncton on Sunday.
