Property Tax Assessments Reduced By More Than $200 Million

The reductions in property tax assessments that have been appealed provincewide are now up to $219 million, according to the Opposition Conservatives. They say more than 61 hundred property owners have been affected.

Over a thousand of the affected homeowners are in Saint John where the reassessments have been lowered by more than $34 million. In Rothesay, the reductions amount to $12 million and over $8 million in Quispamsis.

298 property owners in Moncton have received $12 million in reductions. In Dieppe, 280 property owners have had their assessments lowered by $8.2 million and in Sackville, there have been $2.4 million in reductions for 82 property owners.

There are still thousands more reassessments to be done and the deadline to appeal won’t expire until August 1st.
