The Atlantic Women in Law Enforcement is honouring a Saint John Police Constable as its officer of the year for 2016.
Constable Tanya Lawlor is being cited, in part, for stepping up to the plate while attending a Blue Jays game in Toronto in August of 2015. She utilised her experience as a critis negotiator to persuade a man not to jump off a 30 foot monument outside the Rogers Centre and began talking to him before Toronto Police arrived.
Constable Lawlor received a commendation for her part in responding to a New Year’s Eve stabbing in 2015 on the west side that left a young man dead.
