Rothesay Moves Ahead With Condo Project

Rothesay Council has unanimously voted in favour of starting the rezoning of 7 Hillcrest Drive that would see 58 condominiums built.

The revised proposal is comprised of 5 garden homes with two units in each and two buildings, each with 24 condos at the corner of Hampton Road.

The opponents claim the project contravenes the town’s municipal plan which calls for low density housing there but the developer, Andrew McKay of A.E. McKay Builders says the project will enhance the neighbourhood.

A developer’s agreement with the town still has to be drawn up and approved by Rothesay Council which could happen next month. McKay says he’s ready to start building on March 1st.

McKay says he’s already heard from 47 people who are interested in buying and that’s without any marketing of the project.
