Slight Decrease In Gas And Diesel Prices Expected

Good news for New Brunswickers when it comes to gassing up.

Senior Petroleum Analyst Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com says we should expect a slight drop in gas prices overnight.

“We can expect about a penny and a half, maybe two cents per litre decrease, I’m sticking with 1.5 although retailers are at liberty to drop it further if they wish,” says McTeague.

He says diesel looks even better with a 2.5 cent per litre decrease coming this evening.

He adds we are likely to see a few more decreases before the summer is over.

“I think we’re going to see a summer that will end with cheaper prices, then we’ll have to see what happens in September, when we have to convert from summer blend to winter blend gasoline,” says McTeague. “That usually means a savings of two or three cents per litre.”

McTeague says the decreases over the next month will depend on how much the refineries reduce their production.
