A big thumbs up from the Conservation Council of New Brunswick’s Fundy Baykeeper on the National Energy Board’s decision to include both the upstream and downstream greenhouse gas emissions in its review of the Energy East pipeline project. Matt Abbott says, however, it’s a concern to them that the NEB is not giving full consideration to the impacts on the Bay of Fundy and other marine ecosystems by tankers that he calls an extension of the pipeline. Abbott says another concern is that Energy East is going to be the last project reviewed under the old NEB process, as the NEB is going to be modernized and he says that’s unfair to New Brunswickers and others impacted by Energy East.
