Colford Says Labour Day Means More Than A Day Off

Today marks Labour Day across North America, it’s a time to reflect on everything that has been accomplished by the labour movement.

Patrick Colford of the New Brunswick Federation of Labour says it’s not just about having a day off at the unofficial end of summer.

He says working people came together looking for recognition for their hard work. Colford adds in the early days there were protests in the street.

Colford says even non-unionzed workers have benefited from the labour movement with the introduction of a minimum wage, maternity leave, works place health and safety, vacations and even and enhanced CPP.
