“If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It”

A former provincial health minister says there was no need for the Gallant Government to mess with the Extra-Mural program.

The management of that programme is being taken over by Medavie Health Services. Critics are calling it privatisation.

Ted Flemming, the Conservative M-L-A for Rothesay, says he saw first hand when he was health minister the work that was being done by the extra mural nurses who treated patients in their homes. He calls it a shining light in the provincial health care system.

Flemming says he is baffled by what the motive is on the part of the provincial government.
