Proposed tax changes by the federal government could cripple health care in the province. That warning from Dr. Patti Forgeron who says doctors, who were encouraged to incorporate as a small business when setting up their practices, now face being penalised financially.
She says a survey of 168 doctors in the province is a real eye opener. It discovered if the tax changes go ahead, 65 per cent say they will leave the province, 82 per cent would reduce or alter their hours and 37 per cent would retire.
Doctors in New Brunswick are calling for a Royal Commission to study the potential economic impact of the proposed changes.
