A New Agreement Means Saint John Keeps Training New Docs

Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick will keep cranking out brand new doctors from their medical school in Saint John.

The province renewing its agreement with Dalhousie University and UNB for another 5 years providing 8 million dollars a year.

90 medical students have completed the program so far.

Dal Med NB Associate Dean Dr. Jennifer Hall says the students begin their training in August.

She says they start their first two years in Saint John doing a lot of non-clinical things and they gradually incorporate themselves into clinics and hospitals across the province.

Post-Secondary, Training and Labour Minister Donald Arsenault says Dalhousie Medicine NB is in the middle of a beautiful cluster with many economic opporotunites with the Allied Health Building ,the Regional Hospital and UNB Saint John nearby.
