Fredericton is the site of the next portion of the National Energy Board hearingon the proposed Energy East pipeline which gets underway this morning.
The President of Energy East John Soini told intervenors in Saint John at the close of the hearing last week their concerns have been heard.
Lynaya Astephen of the Red Head Anthony’s Cove Preservation Association is skeptical based on her past experiences with Trans Canada both at her home and at an open house when her questions about the project went unanswered. Astephen says she doesn’t trust Trans Canada.
The provincial government will be the first presenter this morning at the hearing in Fredericton. Premier Brian Gallant has been a big supporter of the project. Also presenting over the next two days will be the Union of Municipalities of New Brunswick, the Miramichi Valley Business Association, the city of Edmundston and various First Nations.
