City Warning Of Low Water Levels

Saint John Water is asking you to help conserve water during what’s proving to be a very hot, dry season with a lack of rain overall. With the consistent heat across the region over the past two months, water levels in the City’s watersheds at Spruce Lake, Latimer Lake and Loch Lomond have dropped, leaving the City’s water supply low.

Due to low water levels, the natural sediment around the edges of the City’s watersheds has been exposed. With a heavy and intense rainfall today, there is an increased chance that the exposed sediment could mix into the water and cause it to become cloudy, or turbid.

Water conservation tips for the home:

· Only water lawns when necessary, and less frequently

· Only wash vehicles when necessary, and don’t run the hose when you do

· Fill the sink or a basin when washing and rinsing dishes

· Only run the dishwasher and washing machine for full loads

· Take short showers instead of baths

· Turn off the water to brush teeth and shave

· Use a broom to clean walkways, driveways, decks, rather than hosing off these areas

· Repair leaky faucets, indoors and out
