Two girls hockey teams in the Kennebecasis Valley, whose players are 11 or 12, have each been fined $350 by Hockey New Brunswick for failing to attend a mandatory tournament in Dalhousie in December. The players have been suspended until the fines are paid and we’re told many parents are angry about this, warning female hockey in the province is in trouble.

The men’s provincial curling championship, the Pepsi Tankard, gets underway this afternoon at Thistle St. Andrews with 4 matches starting at 1:00 and continuing for the rest of the week with the final Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
The New York Yankees have signed slugger Chris Carter to a one year deal. Carter hit 41 homers last season for Milwaukee but he hit just .222 with over 200 strikeouts.
