The Saint John Sea Dogs have won 9 games in a row after beating Drummondville 4-1, Gatineau shut out the Moncton Wildcats 5-0 and the Halifax Mooseheads fell to the Charlottetown Islanders 4-3.

In the NHL

The Chicago Blackhawks beat the Winnipeg Jets 5-2 and the Minnesota Wild edged the Tampa Bay Lightning in a shootout 2-1.

Mike Illitch, longtime owner of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers passed away yesterday at the age of 87.

The defending New Brunswick men’s champions from Fredericton’s Capital Winter Club clinched first place in the round robin and a bye to the final with a pair of victories at Thistle-St. Andrews Curling Club. The Pepsi Tankard final starts at 2:00pm tomorrow. The winner will represent New Brunswick at the 2017 Tim Hortons Brier at Mile One Centre, St. John’s, NL, March 4-12.
