Monday Morning Sports For February 13th

Mike Kennedy is going back to the Brier. His rink from the Capital Winter Club earned their second straight Pepsi Tankard championship Sunday with a 7-4 win over Charlie Sullivan of Thistle-St. Andrews. Kennedy got the win to capture the provincial men’s curling title with a clutch shot in the ninth end.

In the NHL, Tuukka Rask posted his first career regular season home win over Montreal by making 25 saves for his sixth shutout of the season as the Boston Bruins improved to 3 and 0 under interim coach Bruce Cassidy with a 4-0 win over the Canadiens……Elsewhere, it was Minnesota 6 Detroit 3….San Jose 4 New Jersey 1……Nashville 5 Dallas 3……Vancouver 4 Buffalo 2 and the Islanders 5 Colorado 1.

In Major Midget hockey, the Saint John Vitos over Charlottetown 5-2.

In the National Basketball League, the Island Storm got by the Saint John Riptide 115-113. Anthony Anderson finished with a game high 30 points to go along with five rebounds and 11 assists. Haakim Johnson had 26 points while Brian Addison grabbed 18 points and 14 rebounds in his first start of the season.

In the NBA, the Detroit Pistons overcame a 16 point fourth quarter deficit to edge the Toronto Raptors 102-101. In other play, it was Minnesota 117 Charlotte 89……New York 94 San Antonio 90 and Sacramento 105 New Orleans 99.
