Gallant Government Commits $415,000 To Promote Local Food And Drink

The Gallant Government is spending $415,000 to promote local food and drinks this year.

Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries Minister Rick Doucet says New Brunswick households spend approximately $2.6 billion annually on food.

He says if even half of that were produced here, the economic impact would be significant.

The funding will be used to support new and expanding producers.

Doucet says with the right supports in place, they can help producers of some of the best food in world get their goods to market.

Promotion of local agri-food products was identified as a key growth opportunity in the New Brunswick Economic Growth Plan.
