Three Candidates Running For Federal NDP Leadership

An economist is the latest candidate to announce he’s running for the leadership of the federal NDP. Guy Caron is proposing a basic annual income, saying people have legitimate beefs about how the economy seems to be working against them. He also is critical of Prime Minister Trudeau’s talk about real change, dismissing it as small change.

The other two candidates are Peter Julien, an M-P from B-C and Charlie Angus, the M-P from Timmins-James Bay who has been an outspoken advocate for indigenous people and critical of the response by government to the alarming number of suicides of young people on northern reserves.

In the race for the leadership of the federal Conservative party. Kevin O’Leary has decided not to take part in the Edmonton debate. He cites the format, claiming there are just too many candidates for any one of them to properly explain their ideas.
