Apple Slices, Cinnamon Toast and Batman!

A breakfast program at Forest Hills School is feeding 120 kids every day.

It started last year with support from Canaport LNG.

Vice-Principal Paul Hickey agrees it would suprise some people to learn that this is needed on the east side.

He says they want people to know that children do go come to school hungry and not ready to learn and they hope to close the gap on that.

Hickey says the goal this year is to engage the small business community a little more adding they can either contribute food or bring their staff to volunteer or both.

In addition to Saint John-Rothesay MP Wayne Long, the program also got a visit from “Batman” this morning.

Kate Shannon of CanaportLNG says the company become a PALS partner with Forest Hills School back in 2010.

Over those 7 years they have put in a gym floor, provided Welcome Back BBQs and extra school supplies in addition to supporting the breakfast program.
