Promoting a love of reading at home and at school will help kids to want to learn, even if they are struggling, that according to the Executive Director of Elementary Literacy Inc.
Erin Schryer says it`s important that we making reading a positive experience for kids, “If we can nurture that early, and this goes back to the preventative approach. I have a three and a half year old at home, she thinks she can read, and she loves it. Promote that and make it very positive, because then if she struggles down the road, she already loves to read and is more likely to persist.”
The provincial government made a recommitment to literacy this past week, with its Comprehensive literacy strategy, and a plan to hire 36 new literacy leads.
We look forward to our continued partnership with schools, families and children! #nbpoli https://t.co/BysCPViCd3

Schryer is optimistic, “Getting families involved, the libraries are going to be hugely important, and we will shift our culture in New Brunswick to reading and education and literacy and that it is fun.”
