With the fires burning near base Gagetown and some wells having gone dry, the ‘prolonged heavy rainfall event’ Environment Canada says New Brunswick is in store for this week is a welcome one.
Environment Canada states that many parts of the province could get over 50 millimetres of rain by Thursday evening while some areas could see other 100.
“So we’re looking at showers spreading in overnight, early hours of Wednesday continuing for particularly the western and southwestern portions of the province right through Wednesday night into Thursday,” says meteorologist Lindy Libby
Libby says the highest amounts will be in the southwest corner around St. Stephen extending down around Calais.
