KPMG Expects Federal Budget To Focus On Innovation

The federal government is set to release its budget tomorrow and KPMG expects it to be challenging.

KPMG deliverers Audit, Tax, and Advisory services.

Partner Luann Jones-Foster says there are a lot of factors to take into account.

Those factors include the environment, the deficit and the US tax reform.

Jones-Foster says those factors might impact Canada’s competitiveness.

She expects the federal government to focus more on innovation, something she says is “exactly what Canada needs”.

Jones-Foster expects the federal government to look more towards targeted funding for research and development, as opposed to a research and development tax credit through the income tax return process.
