Saint John-Rothesay M-P Says Budget Will Be Good For Region

Saint John-Rothesay M-P Wayne Long says he’s pumped with what’s contained in the federal budget.

He says the money that’s earmarked for affordable housing, childcare and making it less expensive for people to upgrade their job skills is just what Saint John needs to begin to alleviate poverty which is his number one goal.

Long points out the need for more affordable housing in Saint John which has more than 13 hundred people on the waiting list.

Former Fundy Royal M-P Rob Moore who’s the Atlantic critic for the federal Conservatives says with all the talk about infrastructure, the Trudeau Government has done precious little in Saint John compared to what the Harper Government did if you consider modernisaton of the port, harbour cleanup and removing the tolls from the Harbour Bridge.

New Maryland-Sunbury M-L-A Jeff Carr claims 4 thousand households will be adversely affected by the removal of the tax credit for using public transit.
