New Brunswick Health Minister Victor Boudreau has announced universal access to the so-called abortion pill.
In the coming months, Boudreau says it will become available free of charge for women who have a valid Medicare card.
Mifegymiso is prescribed by a doctor for the termination of a pregnancy up to 49 days.
It was approved by Health Canada in July of 2015.
Boudreau says three decades of barriers are coming down to ensure a woman’s right to choose is not determined by how much money she has.
