It has been revealed it was the Premier’s office that made the decision to fast track the system seen as being responsible for inflated property tax assessments.
Provincial Conservative leader Blaine Higgs doesn’t believe this happened by accident. He believes it came about because the provincial government was thirsting for higher revenue and the municipalities wanted more money from tje tax assessments.
Higgs is accusing the Premier of deception by first blaming the people and assessors at Service New Brunswick.
He adds it’s known more than 2 thousand false property tax assessments were sent out but now there’s talk about 100 thousand problems.
