Hundreds of teachers are being added to classrooms across New Brunswick after an agreement was reached late last week.
It is a five year agreement between the provincial government and the New Brunswick Teacher’s Federation.
The government agreed to add 250 positions in support of classroom teachers.
It also includes a research project initiative for students from kindergarten to Grade 2 which will increase their instructional time by one hour per day.
This project will be evaluated in three years to determine if it is helping students reach their expected learning outcomes.
The agreement includes annual wage increases of one percent.
