No Major Impacts Reported Because Of Heavy Rainfall But A Lot Of Road Closures

More than 100 mm of rain fell in some regions of the province this weekend, but there were no major impacts reported to the New Brunswick Emergency Measures Organization as of this morning. There’s a long list of road closures including the Darlings Island Road. The Darlings Island school bus #705 will be picking up and dropping off students at the Fire Hall until the road is reopened. Pickup time is 7:50 in the morning. The drop offs will vary according to school dismissal times.

Heavy rain between Friday evening and today resulted in the water levels in the St. John River reaching a new high for this spring.

EMO is advising residents to avoid going into flooded basements where water is coming into contact with electrical systems.

If water is near electrical systems you should contact NB Power right away.

Environment Canada is predicting another 10-20 mm of rainfall this evening, with even more rain tomorrow.

EMO are advising drivers to avoid being on roads covered by water because it may be deeper than it appears.
