Volunteers Wanted For Marsh Creek Cleanup

If you’re looking for a way to get some fresh air and give Mother Nature a helping hand at the same time, then you might want to sign up for the 10th Marsh Creek cleanup.

The cleanup is happening on Saturday morning and over 100 people have already signed up and it’s hoped that more join.

Kate Shannon of Canaport says that you should wear old clothes to the cleanup:

“We’re not going to be sending you into really, really muddy areas. But you know, wear old shoes or rubber boots something like that. We provide gloves and the garbage bags…don’t wear open toe shoes, that kind of thing.”

If you haven’t registered already you can do so tomorrow by showing up to the Parkway Mall parking lot. Registration is from 8:30am to 9am in the lot and cleanup is from 9am to noon.

Prizes will be given out and a barbeque will take place as well. One of the prizes goes to the team that collects the most unique item

“We’ve definitely found some interesting things over the years,” says Shannon. “I think my favourite is probably the litter of kittens that we found in a couch so we’ll see what we find tomorrow.”
