The City Must Re-Advertise For Its Feedback On Proposed Rezoning of 1671 Sandy Point Road.

Common Council is going to have to re-advertise its feed back requests for rezoning amendments to 1671 Sandy Point Road.

An error in the newspaper advertisement means the controversial process to rezone land adjacent to Rockwood Park to be potentially developed needs to give another 30 days for anyone to offer feedback.

This means a delay of the public hearing until mid-March. Councillor Gary Sullivan tried his best to have the entire process killed saying most of the feedback has been against the rezoning.

However, Councillor David Merrithew said by halting the process we are telling potential developers that Saint John is closed for business.

Besides, he says the piece of property in his opinion resembles the lunar landscape and is not conducive to public use as it is now.

The re-advertising was approved after close to an hour of back and forth comments from councillors.
