Ontario provides seniors free room and board and New Brunswick should too.
That from Cecile Cassista, Executive Director of the Coalition for Seniors and Nursing Homes Residents.
She calls it frustrating that some seniors would like to live at home, but can’t because the province doesn’t have the service.
The provincial government is spending roughly $800 per day for a senior citizen to be in the hospital and Cassista compares that to spending $45 per day in a special care, or retirement home.
Cassista says every time the government changes and another study is done, but nothing ever happens.
She says it’s time for action.
