In New Brunswick Senior Baseball League play, the Saint John Alpines defeated the Moncton Fishercats 6-5 while the Saint John Junior Alpines were swept in a doubleheader by P-E-I 10-8 and 14-4.
The best high school athletes competed in the Track & Field Championships over the weekend at the Canada Games Stadium. Craig Thorne of Kennebecasis Valley High School set a new record in the junior boys’ 300 metre hurdles, winning the gold medal. Jillian Beck of Harbor View High School won the junior women’s javelin throw as well as the junior girls shot put.
