NB Food Banks Agreement Hailed As ‘Huge’

Food banks across the province will now have access to a greater variety of food thanks to the new agreement between the New Brunswick Association of Food Banks and Moncton’s Food Depot Alimentaire.

With lots of storage space, a large freezer and refrigerator, the FDA’s warehouse has become a distribution centre with support from trucking companies like Midland Transport.

Association spokesperson Laurie Stewart says the province’s 59 food banks will be able to get fresh produce and meat products.

“By coming here, we are going to to be able to bring in more food and therefore ship out more food and get it where it needs to be,” he says.

According to the stats, Stewart adds just under 20,000 families were fed at food banks across New Brunswick last year.
