Empowering women is the focus of a conference in Saint John entitled “The Power of the Purse” featuring a variety of panelists.
At the Canada 2020 conference, Richard Branson is also talking about empowering women in business. He favours a proactive approach to get women into senior positions at companies.
Branson likes the Scandanavian approach with a law stipulating at least 45 per cent of company boards be comprised of women.
Branson says diverse work cultures produce forward thinking businesses. It’s been reported if women started businesses at the same rate as men, the global economy would be better off to the tune of $28 trillion by 2025.
