E. Coli Outbreak In Three Provinces Including New Brunswick

The federal government is investigating an E. coli outbreak in New Brunswick, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador.

The source isn’t known but all of the people who became sick last month, most of them women, had eaten romaine lettuce. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency is working with public health officials to determine the source.

There are 21 cases in the three provinces including five in New Brunswick.

Those afflicted range in age from 5 up to 72. Ten people have been hospitalized but no one has died and, according to Health Canada, the risk is low.
