Gas Prices Fall As Summer Driving Season Begins

Gas prices typically rise at the start of summer as demand rises with more drivers hitting the highways.

But prices in New Brunswick have been falling for several weeks now.

Senior petroleum analyst Dan McTeague with Gasbuddy.com says drivers are saving up to 15 dollars a week on fill-ups compared to recent years.

“Prices we haven’t seen… for this time of year – the beginning of summer – going back to 2010. So they are likely to stay down at least for the foreseeable future,” he notes.

McTeague says several factors are at play including a glut of oil and gas in the United States and the low value of the Canadian dollar.
