New Brunswick Farm-To-Bottle Vodka A Reality With Federal And Provincial Funding

A farm based New Brunswick micro distillery is now offering farm-to-bottle vodka thanks to federal and provincial funding.

Blue Roof Distillers received a repayable contribution of $113,382 from the federal government to buy new equipment enabling the distillery to produce vodka.

They also received nearly $25,000 from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, and the New Brunswick Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture, and Fisheries for support of market development, product enhancement, and diversification as well as business management skills development.

According to the news release, the Province of New Brunswick also contributed another $28,000 to the project, although what that money was specifically used for is not clear.

Blue Roof Distillers are now producing premium potato vodka from local potatoes grown by their associated company, Strang’s Produce Inc.

The sixth-generation family farm covers more than 700 acres in Malden, near the Confederation Bridge.

Strang’s Produce Inc produces and sells more than 350 acres of potatoes in the Atlantic Provinces through retain chain stores.
