Horizon Health is concerned too many people are coming to emergency rooms for medical treatments when they don’t have genuine medical emergencies.
Horizon President and C-E-O Karen McGrath acknowledges a lot of people in the province don’t have a family doctor and is urging them to utlilise community health centres, nurse practitioners and after hours clinics.
McGrath points out patients could be in for long waits if they go to an emergency department and are not deemed to require urgent care.
