Blue Jays slugger Kendrys Morales tied a franchise record by homering in a sixth consecutive game as Toronto downed Philadelphia 8-6.
Elsewhere, Boston fell to Tampa Bay 5-1, the Yankees downed Baltimore 10-3 and 5-1, the Cubs beat Cincinnati 10-6, and the Dodgers edged San Diego 5-4.
At the Canadian men’s national baseball championship:
New Brunswick downed Nova Scotia 3-1 and then went on to beat Ilderton, Ont., 6-1 in the quarter-finals.
New Brunswick will face British Columbia in the semifinals on Sunday afternoon.
In the CFL:
The Stampeders came from behind to beat the visiting Blue Bombers 39-26 at McMahon Stadium.
Elsewhere, the Roughriders came out on top with a 24-21 road victory against the BC Lions.
