Good news if you like the six new parking machines installed at St. Joseph’s Hospital over the summer.
The Saint John Parking Commission is installing 11 more pay-by-plate machines next week around King’s Square and on King and Germain streets.
You pay using your vehicle’s licence plate and enforcement officers will be able to scan your plate to see if the parking time has expired.
This means you do not have to print off a receipt to place on the dashboard of your vehicle.
We will soon have 11 more Pay by Plate parking meters on King Street and around King Square. Here are all the how-to’s to use the machines. @SaintJohnNBNews @uptownsaintjohn @SaintJohnRT pic.twitter.com/fltcdyBIfh

The old pay-and-display machines will be moved to lower-traffic areas and will eventually be phased out, along with the old coin meters.
You can pay by credit card, coins, tokens, or by using the HotSpot Parking app.
It is expected the machines will begin accepting debit cards in early 2019.
