Tuesday Morning Sports For August 19th

In the Majors, the Los Angeles Angels downed the Red Sox 4-2 to open up a half game lead over Oakland in the American League West. Baltimore beat the White Sox 8-2 to open up a 7 and a half game lead over the Yankees in the A-L East and by 8 over the Blue Jays. The Yankees and Blue Jays were idle.

In the National League, Eastern Division leading Washington won its 7th in a row, 5-4 in 11 innings over Arizona…..This was the third straight walk off win for the Nationals.

At the Canadian Junior Baseball Championship, the Port City Pirates lost the bronze medal game to Ontario 11-1……Quebec won gold with an 11-3 win over B-C.

In New Brunswick Senior Baseball tonight, the Saint John Alpines finish up their regular season against the Moncton Mets, 7:30 at Memorial Field.

In the River Valley Oldtimers League, it was the Molson Merchants over Home Hardware 5-1 and Exit Realty beat Home Hardware 18-5.

The Sea Dogs have traded defenceman Alexander McQuaid to the Quebec Remparts for another defenseman, Louis-Philip Fortin as the “Q” League’s preseason trade period closes.
